Terms of Service

Effective Date: February 1, 2026

These Terms of Service govern your use of RedactLaw's AI-powered document redaction platform. By creating an account or using our service, you agree to be bound by these terms.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using RedactLaw ("Service", "Platform", "we", "us", or "our"), you ("User", "you", or "your") agree to comply with and be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not access or use the Service.

These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and RedactLaw. If you are using the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent and warrant that you have the authority to bind that organization to these Terms, and your agreement to these Terms will be treated as the agreement of the organization.

2. Description of Service

RedactLaw is a software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform that provides AI-powered redaction of sensitive information in legal documents. The Service uses artificial intelligence and machine learning models to identify and redact information based on user-provided instructions and document images.

The Service includes features such as:

  • Support for HIPAA identifiers, FRCP 5.2, FOIA, and custom redaction rules
  • Document processing from uploaded images

  • All activities that occur under your account
  • Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account
  • Ensuring that your account information remains accurate and up to date

You may not share your account credentials or allow others to access your account. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or that we reasonably believe have been compromised.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

IMPORTANT: AI ACCURACY AND USER RESPONSIBILITY

THE SERVICE USES ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE TO DETECT AND REDACT INFORMATION. AI SYSTEMS ARE NOT 100% ACCURATE AND MAY PRODUCE FALSE POSITIVES (REDACTING INFORMATION THAT SHOULD NOT BE REDACTED) OR FALSE NEGATIVES (FAILING TO REDACT SENSITIVE INFORMATION THAT SHOULD BE REDACTED).

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, OR COURSE OF PERFORMANCE.

  • Any errors in the Service will be corrected
  • The AI will detect all sensitive information in your documents

You acknowledge that you use the Service at your own risk and that you are solely responsible for any damage to your computer system, loss of data, or other harm that results from your use of the Service.

8. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL REDACTLAW, ITS AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, OR LICENSORS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION, LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, RESULTING FROM:

  • Your access to or use of or inability to access or use the Service
  • Any conduct or content of any third party on the Service
  • Unauthorized access, use, or alteration of your transmissions or content
  • Errors, omissions, or inaccuracies in the redaction of documents
  • Disclosure of sensitive information due to incomplete or incorrect redactions
  • Any professional liability or malpractice claims arising from your use of redacted documents

IN NO EVENT SHALL REDACTLAW'S TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO REDACTLAW IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($100), WHICHEVER IS GREATER.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitations may not apply to you. In such jurisdictions, RedactLaw's liability will be limited to the greatest extent permitted by law.

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless RedactLaw, its affiliates, and their respective officers, directors, employees, agents, and licensors from and against any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, expenses, or fees (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from:

  • Your use of the Service
  • Your violation of these Terms
  • Your violation of any rights of another party, including any intellectual property rights
  • Your User Content
  • Your use or distribution of redacted documents generated by the Service
  • Any professional liability, malpractice, or negligence claims arising from your use of redacted documents

This indemnification obligation will survive the termination of these Terms and your use of the Service.

10. Document Processing and Data Handling

10.1 In-Memory Processing

Documents are processed in-memory during the redaction workflow. Original document images are not permanently stored on our servers and are deleted from temporary storage immediately after processing is complete.

10.2 Redacted Output Storage

Redacted documents are temporarily stored to enable download and review. Storage duration depends on your retention settings and plan features. You may delete documents at any time through your account dashboard.

10.3 User Responsibility

You are solely responsible for:

  • Ensuring you have the legal right to upload and process documents through the Service
  • Verifying the accuracy and completeness of all redactions before using redacted documents
  • Maintaining backups of original documents outside of the Service
  • Complying with all applicable laws, regulations, and professional obligations when using the Service
  • Determining whether the Service meets your specific security and compliance requirements

10.4 No AI Training

Your documents are never used to train, fine-tune, or improve any AI model. Processing is performed solely to provide the redaction service to you. See our Privacy Policy for additional details on data handling practices.

11. Termination

Either party may terminate these Terms at any time. You may terminate by canceling your account through your account settings or by contacting us at contact@redactlaw.com.

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service immediately, without prior notice or liability, for any reason, including without limitation if:

  • You breach any provision of these Terms
  • You fail to pay applicable fees
  • We are required to do so by law
  • We reasonably believe termination is necessary to prevent harm to us, other users, or third parties
  • We discontinue the Service or any part thereof

Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease. All provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination shall survive, including without limitation ownership provisions, warranty disclaimers, indemnity, and limitations of liability.

You are responsible for exporting any documents or data you wish to retain prior to termination. After termination, we may delete your User Content in accordance with our data retention policies.

12. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of such courts.

If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable by a court, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.

13. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify or replace these Terms at any time at our sole discretion. If we make material changes to these Terms, we will notify you by:

  • Posting the updated Terms on this page with a new effective date
  • Sending an email notification to the address associated with your account
  • Displaying a prominent notice within the Service

Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of revised Terms constitutes your acceptance of the changes. If you do not agree to the new Terms, you must stop using the Service and cancel your account.
